	Hunting a Hunter

Nothing about this is very original, let me just say that now. Also, very short chapters. Normally, I'm a bit obsessive about the length of my chapters, but I think it'll be okay here. Also, this is going to be one of those jumping-around fics time-line-wise. Mostly because it's something I'd like to try out to see if I can make it work, and partially because that's how my brain tends to work.

Anyway, enjoy my shitty, unoriginal Gamwood fic.

The slightest whizzing sound alerted Gamma to an attack, making him reflexively lift his right hand towards the noise. He heard more than felt something metal, but larger than a bullet, strike his armoured hand before falling to the ground. "A knife?" he muttered aloud, surprised. Two more projectiles suddenly flew towards him. and he ducked in time for them to harmlessly wedge into the wall behind him. _Another one,_ he thought with grim amusement. _It's about damn time._

"You're an easy man to find, Gamma Akutabi," a low voice growled at him, and he looked up to see a shrouded figure on the roof of a nearby building.

"It's no fun hiding from scum like you," Gamma replied with a grin, reaching his hand towards the hilt of his sword.

The man chuckled. "Heh. Good for me, huh?" He leapt down from the building, landing surprisingly softly. "Draw your sword!" he yelled, tightening the scarf covering his face with one hand as knives appeared in his other.

Gamma willingly did as instructed, but hesitated in starting up the motor. "Who are you?" he asked, eyebrows sinking together. _He's not acting like a bounty hunter. Definitely not someone out for revenge. And I haven't seen a knife thrower like this since-_ He cut the thought off. He wasn't going to let himself get distracted by such stupid thoughts. It had been almost two years since he'd left Elwood at Gemini Labs to make his own decision about moving forward. As much as he'd regretted it on some level, he knew it was for the best. However, the possibility of the teen catching up had stretched from unlikely to impossible months ago. It was time to let it go.

Besides, this man was larger than the scrawny teenager could ever hope to be. The knives were the only things they had in common. There was no reason for him to indulge the thought any farther than that.

The man hesitated to answer the question, though, eyes darting around as if he might find the answer. He sighed heavily before drawing himself up tall. "Someone with a personal grudge. That's all," he finally replied, an obvious smirk in his voice.

Gamma smirked back, shoving aide his distracting thoughts. "That's all?" Wildly grinning, he have the chain on his sword a sharp yank, letting it roar to life.

What little of the man's face was visible scrunched up in wicked delight, and he shot forward, knives flashing in the sun.
